The client brief was to create motif illustrations inspired by the culture of a country. Tunisia is a country in North Africa with a rich culture of weaving rugs. These rugs are heavily influenced by ancient symbols, warm colours, and intricate geometry. These rugs include symbols like the four basic elements (air, water, earth, fire) along with stars, flora, and fauna and showcase the history of Tunisia.

 

Colours used largely in these rugs are shades of blue, green, yellow, red, white, black, orange and brown. Each colour represents a feeling, person or identity of the community.
